Within the context of the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, the IfL is committed to the idea of open access. As stated in the preface, the declaration was elaborated to “promote the Internet as a functional instrument for a global scientific knowledge base and human reflection and to specify measures which should be considered by politicians, research institutions, funding agencies, libraries, archives and museums”. At IfL, Open Access constitutes an important educational-political part of its mission for discussing and disseminating its own research findings in the academic world.
